Eskom was established in 1923 and is South Africa’s primary electricity supplier. The company generates approximately 95% of the electricity used in South Africa and approximately 45% of the electricity used in the African continent. It is wholly owned by the South African government and distributes electricity to industrial, commercial, agricultural and residential consumers.
Eskom bursary is open to candidates intending to study at recognized higher education institutions.
The following fields of study are accepted for the bursary:
Safety and Risk
Further Education & Training (FET)
Control & Instrumentation
Fitters & Turners
Power Plant Operators
Eskom bursary schemes are offered in either:
Full Eskom Bursary – This bursary is based on business needs of the company. This covers registration fees, tuition fees, residence or accommodation fees, meals allowance, book allowance, PC allowance and vacation allowance.
Scholarships – This bursary is exclusively offered to Eskom employees children/beneficiaries. This covers registration fees, tuition fees, residence or accommodation fees, meals allowance and book allowance.
Eskom Bursary Requirements and Eligibility
Citizens of South Africa with valid ID number
Full time student at an accredited South African institution
Willing to undergo an interview and medical examination or health declaration
Students or intend to study in the fields mentioned above
For University applicants, minimum Code 5 for English, Physical Science and Mathematics
For Technikons/University of technlology applicants, minimum Code 4 for English, Physical Science and Mathematics
For Further Education and Training (FET) applicants, minimum Code 3 for English, Physical Science and Mathematics
For applicants already at higher institution, must have passed all registered subjects in the current year
Prepare the following documents together with your application:

Shortlisted applicants will be notified by phone and mail and will be invited for an interview as well as medical declaration/examination. Final selection and award will be based on the interview, satisfactory academic results and medical fitness. Selection results will be released from/between October to December of the current year.
