DRDGOLD Bursary South Africa


For qualified and interested students in their 1st and 2nd-year of studies and live within 15-kilometers of DRDGOLD’s operations in Ekurhuleni and Johannesburg, the Ergo Mining company offers scholarships for study in certain fields at accredited tertiary institutions in South Africa for the Academic Year 2021. These fields of studies for which interested students may apply for bursaries include electrical engineering or instrumentation, occupational health and safety, and environmental sciences.


The Far West Gold Recoveries Proprietary Limited and Ergo Mining Proprietary Limited, which are DRDGOLD subsidiaries, are now accepting applications for the bursaries from students who want to start studying or are currently entering their second year of study towards a degree at one of the Tertiary institutions South Africa for any of the following:

  • Metallurgy
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Environmental sciences
  • Human Resources
  • Finance
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Safety management

This opportunity is only for Gauteng residents, preferably from the City of Johannesburg, Merafong, and Ekurhuleni.

DRDGOLD Bursary Requirements and Eligibility

Interested applicants must have the following minimum criteria before applying:

For First Years students:

  • Must have a letter of provisional acceptance for the Academic Year from a South African tertiary institution
  • Must have their most recent Grade 11 or Grade 12 results

For Second Year students:

  • Must have the results of their previous year’s studies from a South African tertiary institution.

Candidates who qualify for the bursaries must work during holidays at any of the operations of DRDGOLD.

How to Apply and Application Details

Applicants to the bursaries must submit the following:

  • A short CV
  • A copy of their ID
  • Their latest school results
  • Proof of address

Applicants may submit these to the Human Resources Department through email at employment.confirmation@drdgold.com

Indicate BUR021 in the subject line. All incomplete applications will get disregarded.
