Anglo American Platinum Bursaries

The goal of the Anglo American bursary programme is to pave the way for young professionals into the job market, the mining industry, and the company itself.

Those who meet the requirements for the bursary support will have the following expenses covered by the programme:

  • Registration and tuition fees
  • Textbook expenses
  • Medical coverage
  • Computer allowance

In addition, beneficiaries may receive an opportunity to participate in vacation work. Upon graduation, students may be eligible for permanent position at Anglo American.

Anglo-American has been part of the mining industry and the southern African economy for more than 100 years. The company has interests in several metal mining concerns, one of them being in the lucrative platinum mining industry. The company operates in several countries around the world, with its central platinum mining interests located in the North-West Province of South Africa.

Anglo-American Platinum works across the entire mining process, from sourcing the platinum to processing and then selling it. The company embraces its corporate and social responsibilities through outreach programmes and bursaries to promising students studying towards a Bachelor of Mining Engineering Technology qualification.

Anglo American Platinum Bursaries Requirements and Eligibility

Applicants must meet the minimum criteria before submitting their application:

  • Must be a citizen of South Africa
  • Intending to pursue or currently pursuing an undergraduate qualification at a South African university
  • Living within a 50-kilometer radius from Anglo American’s Johannesburg facility

Failure to comply with ALL of these requirements will result in the application getting disregarded.

How to Apply and Application Details

Eligible applicants are to apply on Anglo American’s online recruitment portal. Be sure to have the following documents ready during the application process:

  • Certified copy of ID document.
  • Comprehensive curriculum vitae
  • Grade 12 students will need to submit their Grade 11 results with school stamp
  • Incoming first year students must submit a certified copy of their Grade 12 certificate
  • Undergraduate students currently pursuing qualification must submit both previous and latest academic transcripts

These are part of the requirements. If the applicant doesn’t submit these documents completely, their applications will not be accepted.
