About Kouga Wind Farm
Kouga Wind Farm is a wind power-focused renewable energy project that aims to realise the full potential of wind power in South Africa. Having established in 2015, it operates a total of wind turbines located across the Eastern Cape coastline. Together, the turbines generate about 80 megawatts of electricity. Along with that, they mitigate 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere. The farms are vital in South Africa’s quest for a low-carbon future. There are 28 more such farms that are approved by the REIPPP programme.
Kouga Wind Farm Bursary 2022
The Wind Farm started a bursary programme to fund the education of certain unprivileged students facing financial challenges in education. This is just one of the many sustainable projects the farm has undertaken.
For the academic session 2022, Kouga Wind Farm will select students from the following areas:
- Sea Vista and Kruisfontein
You can be pursuing an undergrad degree, diploma, or certificate course in any field of study to be considered. The bursary programme is quite flexible. Those studying at a trade school should be studying in one of these fields of study: electrical, plumbing, construction, motor mechanic, and culinary.
The value of the bursary will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the need, you will either receive partial or complete coverage of the tuition cost. Furthermore, you will get financial coverage for registration fees, prescribed study materials, and accommodation. But that’s not all. You will also receive a stipend.
Initially, the bursaries will be awarded for one academic year. You can renew for the next by applying once again. However, the renewal will depend on academic performance (students must score at least75%).
Eligibility Criteria For The Kouga Wind Farm Bursary
To be selected for the bursary programme, you must fulfill all of the eligibility criteria. These are laid out by Kouga Wind Farm to select the deserving candidates for the bursary. Since there are a limited number of bursaries on offer, it can’t award to everyone. Failing to meet any of the criteria will lead to rejection. Therefore, always cross-check before applying.
The eligibility requirements for Kouga Wind Farm Bursary 2022 are:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must not be above 29 years of age at the time of application
- Must be residing in one of the territories mentioned above
