MultiChoice Bursaries 2022
For the year 2022, MultiChoice has released their bursary scheme where ten of the selected candidates will be funded by the Nomzamo Lighthouse Foundation. MultiChoice is the partner of this foundation renowned for investing in the South African youth for their successful future. The bursary covers registration fees, accommodation expenses, tuition fees and even annual renting allowance.
About MultiChoice
Founded in 1993, MultiChoice is a South African organization that runs the DSTV satellite television subscription service service all across Sub-Saharan Africa. The African company offers 5 services:
- M-NET – a service for satellite television subscription
- Showmax – a service for online video-on-demand subscription
- Supersport – a sports channels collection on the DStv network
- GOtv – a Digital terrestrial television platform
- Irdeto – a company offering digital platform security
In the year 2018, MultiChoice Africa established their MultiChoice Talent Factory academies that offer a year-long academic and practical immersion programme. Around 60 students from 13 countries can participate in this programme.
As per the CEO of MultiChoice South Africa, the country must keep up with the technological advancements in today’s era and for that it needs dynamic workforce in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. Launching such bursary programs will open the doors of opportunities for youth who want to hone up their skills within the technological industry, says the CEO.
About the MultiChoice Bursary
To facilitate and support the bursary administration, Skills 123- a third-party bursary management entity has been appointed. This provider has further partnered with Student Village, a youth marketing specialists that have a huge reach across numerous campuses in the country.
MultiChoice is planning to award R20 million in funding to nearly 200 students. Nomzamo Lighthouse Foundation will be funding 10 students. The bursary covers registration fees, tuition fees, yearly living allowance and accommodation costs.

MultiChoice has released its bursary programme for the academic year 2022 for students to apply.
Bursaries are to be awarded for studies in the below-given fields:
- Applied Mathematics
- Actuarial Science
- Information Engineering
- Digital Media Technologies
- Computer Science
- Data and Information Science
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Information Technology (AI & Robotics)
The MultiChoice Bursary Programme 2022 is open for candidates in all years of study, even those who have applied for their first postgraduate degree focusing on the STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), specifically:
- Digital Media Technologies
- Information Technology (AI & Robotics)
- Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering
- Actuarial Science
- Data and Information Science
- Computer Science and Applied Mathematics
Eligibility Criteria For The MultiChoice Bursary
The below qualifying requirements must be met for those looking to apply:
- Applicant must be a South African citizen
- Applicant must be studying or registered at a South African Institute of Higher Learning
- Applicant’s age must be under the age of 28 years
- Applicant must have completed Matric
- Applicant must intend or be studying for a qualification, within one of the fields listed above (postgraduate or undergraduate)
- If not studying yet, applicant must have achieved 70% of minimum overall average in Matric
- If studying at tertiary level currently, the applicant must have achieved 65% of minimum overall average
Applicants must meet the minimum entry criteria listed in the application form, before applying. Failure to do so will result in their application being rejected.

Documents Required
When filling up the application, candidates must submit clear copies of the following documents along with the complete application form:
- ID document (certified copy)
- Recent academic record: Matric certificate, academic transcript (certified copies)
- Preliminary acceptance or proof acceptance from an accredited tertiary institute (on letterhead)
- If applicable, disability medical certificate
It is compulsory to submit these documents; missing any item will result in the rejection of your application. The documents must be certified within the last 3 months.
