Located in the United States, Well Mountain Initiative (WMI) is a charitable organization (public). Intending to promote social reformation, WMI has played an active role in providing a platform for the youth of South Africa to pursue their educational goals and build communities.

The South African youth are provided with opportunities with scholarships, skill-enhancement workshops, and providing opportunities to network to help them transform their communities one day. During scholarships, Well Mountain Initiative remains hands-on by aiding students through different social service projects and lending all the support they might require to ensure the successful completion of their studies.

Wells Mountain Initiative Scholarship 2024

Well Mountain Initiative is inviting students to apply for the scholarship for the upcoming academic year. Students from developing countries pursuing Bachelor or Diploma qualifications in any field of study are considered for the scholarship.

The WMI Scholarship is awarded to 60- 80 students each year, with the average value of the scholarship being USD 1500. The scholarship covers the expenses of study materials, tuition fees, books, and other related materials.

All the applications will be reviewed between April to July 2024, and the selected candidates will be announced on the official website and Facebook page of WMI, with the first scholarship installment wired in September 2024. Unsuccessful candidates will be sent a regret mail informing them about the same.

Selected candidates have to maintain excellent academic results. They have to participate in 100 hours of community service, and the committee holds the power r to terminate the scholarship at any time if the student has failed to produce.

Eligibility Criteria for The WMI Scholarship

Following are the certain eligibility criteria that the applicants must meet to ensure their application is considered for the scholarship:

  • The candidate should be a resident of a developing country with the wish to pursue Bachelor or Diploma qualification in the home country or another developing country. Studies in Canada, the US, the UK, Western Europe, and Australia are prohibited.
  • The applicant must have an excellent academic record and should be enrolled in a program that benefits the country in the future.
  • The applicant must not be more than 35 years of age.
  • The applicant must plan to work in their home country after graduation and should show commitment and passion in serving the community.
  • The candidate must require financial assurance.

How To Apply for The WMI Scholarship?

To apply for the Wells Mountain Initiative Scholarship, complete the online application process.

You have to answer 153 questions, and it is not necessary to complete them all at once; an option to save your progress is present.

Documents Required

You have to submit the following document to ensure the application suffices the eligibility criteria set by the panel.

  • National ID documents
  • Academic transcript from the school attended.
  • Results of the national exam (if applicable)
  • Headshot photo
  • Fee structure, preferably on the institute’s letterhead
  • 2 recommendation letters
  • Personal statements (500- 1000 words)
  • An essay of 500- 1000 words on “If you were awarded $1000 for a community service project to help your community, what issue would you address? Who would benefit and how? How would you measure the success of the activity? You’ll need to provide a detailed budget for all your expenses. Please note that this is a hypothetical scenario, not a request.”

Closing Date of The Bursary

The closing date for Wells Mountain Initiative Scholarship 2023 is 1 March 2023 at 06:59 South African time. Applications submitted post-deadline will be rejected by the scholarship panel.
