The Eastern Cape stands as the second-largest province within South Africa. They provide an array of tourist attractions from sunny beaches to snow skiing. Spanning over 170,000 square km, housing 6 district municipalities alongside two metropolitan municipalities. At its helm is Premier Oscar Mabuyane, overseeing governmental affairs from the province’s administrative center in Bhisho. The Eastern Cape province prides itself on its rich culture and heritage, fostered by the Xhosa tradition.

The Eastern Cape Office of the Premier Bursary is more than a financial aid program. It’s a catalyst for change, designed to uplift the youth of the Eastern Cape. And equip them with the tools they need to forge a successful future. The ECOP is nurturing a generation of skilled to contribute to the province’s prosperity by removing financial barriers.

About Eastern Cape Office of the Premier Program

The Eastern Cape Office of the Premier, partnered with MerSETA is inviting students to apply for their bursary program, for the 2024 academic year. The program is open to students residing within the Eastern Cape, engaging in studies that are relevant to MerSETA sector priority skills.

ECOTP Bursary Program Covered Fields

ECOTP Bursary Program is given within the following fields of study:

  • Actuarial Science
  • Various branches of Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, etc.)
  • Finance
  • Human Resources Management
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
  • Marketing/Advertising
  • Manufacturing
  • Polymer Technology
  • Production and Operations Management
  • Supply Chain/Logistics

Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, candidates must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible:

  • Candidates must be citizens of South Africa.
  • Candidates must reside in the Eastern Cape.
  • Candidates age must be within the range of 18 to 35 years.
  • Candidates must pursue a Degree or Diploma in the specified fields at a recognized South African institution.
  • Candidates must be unemployed.
  • Not be receiving any other government-funded scholarship or bursary.
  • Candidates must be willing to work within the related service sectors.
  • Preference will be given to students from a previously disadvantaged background.

Documents Required

Submit clear and certified copies of the following documents with online or hardcopy application form:

  1. Identity Document (ID)
  2. Matric Certificate or Equivalent
  3. Latest academic record
  4. Proof of registration at a South African University or University of Technology
  5. Proof of any other form of financial assistance towards studies.

Closing Date

15 April 2024.

Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted. So, please apply before the closing date to ensure your application is considered.
