Emfuleni Local Municipality Bursary 2024

The Executive Mayor of Emfuleni Local Municipality, Cllr. Sipho Radhebe has invited applications for the academic year 2024 for the comprehensive bursary for students in Grade 12 within the Emfuleni Municipality who intend to pursue their higher studies at any university or other institution.

Students from the following fields will be awarded full-time undergraduate, artisan training, and post-graduate bursaries from approved institutions annually:

  • Commerce
  • Law
  • Technical skills, for example: Electrical, Civil /Chemical Engineering etc.
  • Human and Social Sciences
  • Science and Technology

Emfuleni Local Municipality Bursary will cover the following expenses for the selected candidates:

  • Registration fees
  • Tuition fees
  • Expenses for prescribed study materials
  • Accommodation and meals

Eligibility Criteria

Interested applicants must fulfil the following requirements to apply for the Emfuleni Local Municipality Bursary 2024. Please be aware that if you do not complete them entirely, your application will not be taken into consideration:

  • Applicants must have passed Grade 12 with a minimum of a 60% average and going onto their first year of study at a tertiary institution
  • The applicants must be residents within Emfuleni Local Municipality
  • Priority will be given to those learners coming from disadvantaged family backgrounds.
  • Families which are registered on indigent database categories will be given first preference
  • Joint income for the parents/guardian or household of the applicant should not exceed R350 000 per annum

Note: Any other critical skills or scares, as informed by the ELM, need to be mentioned.

Preference will be given to enrolment in local institutions of higher learning, followed by Potchefstroom, Mahikeng, and Gauteng institutions.

Documents Required

Applicants are requested to submit the following documents along with their application form. Applications without supporting documents will not be taken into consideration.

  • Testimonial letter from the high school where the applicant matriculated
  • Proof of admission into an institution of higher learning

Closing Date

The last date of the application is 30 November 2023 at 16 hours. Please apply before this date if you would like your application to be considered. After this deadline, applications will not be accepted.
