GCRA Bursary – Gauteng City Region Academy 2023 – 2024
About Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA)
The Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) is a branch of the Gauteng Department of Education that aims to promote skills development in Gauteng. This is done through the establishment of learnerships, internships, bursaries (GCRA bursary), skills programme and career guidance programmes. The Gauteng youth, business sectors and Gauteng government employees are the major beneficiaries of the GCRA.
The GCRA has developed an Unemployment database in order to identify participants for development programs. The employment opportunities will come from Gauteng Provincial Government departments, municipalities, government agencies and the private sectors. Interviews, as well as other application procedures and results, will be used as a basis for program selection. The aim is to build a skilled, capable and ethical workforce for the region in South Africa.Â

I got the bursary, it’s November now and my fees nor accommodation have been paid. There’s no communication from the bursary and the year is almost over, please advice. I’m really struggling at the moment yet ‘i have a bursary’
same here I don’t know what to do hey….. I’m so stressed they are quite
I too have been waiting for communication from the bursary since signing the contract. My results are blocked and my application for on-campus residence has been rejected because of outstanding debt. I don’t know where to seek help as the academic year has closed already with the finance department on the 15th of December.
I was experiencing the same problem. I would advise you to call the Gauteng department of education and get the number of the person who is responsible for your institution as they can give you more information on what the delay is.
All the best
Did you at least get help ?
I ended up cancelling the bursary as I could not apply for other means of sponsorship as GCRA was written on my name at the Financial Office.
Good Day
I have applied for a bursary under Bursary ID 5227, and submitted all the documents, including certified matric results and affidavit that i have a single guardian, however the portal still says the information is incomplete. Please help.
Hello. I need clarity about something. I had the GCRA bursay when l was doing my irst year at UJ in 2017 and l passed that year decided to go to UP and change my course. I then consulted with the administrator at GCRA about my decision and she said its fine bt they will cover my first year at UP when l am doung my secind yearthey will continue funding me from there onwards. It happened that in 2018 l didnt manage to make it to UP so l took a gap year and in 2019 l did my first year at UP and passed and this year 2020 l am doing my second year. Is thete any possibility that the bursary would fund me at this point?
Good day
I was requested to provide additional supporting documents on the GCRA Digital Portal but am unable to do so as I am only able to view the documents already added and am unable to add anything new. My application reference number is #1557. Please can you assist?
It is with great shame to hear that GCRA are crooks and using young people to suffer through this program called COVID-19 YOUTH BRIGADES, how can you pay South Africans R3000 a month after risking their lives screening learners, sanitation, data capturing, monitoring social distancing and other related compliance of staff members, learners, visitors and contractors to the site at which you will be deployed at all the time?
If this is what you doing? You should be ashamed of yourself and will take you to social media and don’t forget EFF IS COMING
My child is a top achiever in school fees paying government school. They say she not qualifying.
I am top 2 2017fron our school. I came to your offices in Jo’burg, two weeks back. I was told that I will receive a call, still, no response.
I was using GCRA last year but I failed my first year… will they still pay for me this year? Is my contract then terminated?
Good day, kindly contact your bursary administrator.
They will probably suspend it for a year until you pass that academic year.
I am in Cape Town therefore visiting GCRA offices at 55 fox street is not as easy since I am at University of Cape Town.
I am one of the top 3 and I did submit all the required documents in January but even now there is no responce
At this point I think you need to visit GCRA offices at 55 fox street, Johannesburg, to get information about your application.
