About NCPG (Northern Cape Provincial Government)
The Northern Cape Provincial Government offers various services and mandates laws for local people across the Northern Cape Province in South Africa. The NCPG works closely with municipalities across the province and national government to ensure citizens receive exceptional facilities and services.
Northern Cape Provincial Government Bursary 2024
The Northern Cape Provincial Government is inviting South African youth from the Province that is unemployed to apply for the bursary programme directed towards undergraduate/first-degree qualifications for full-time studies at any Higher Learning Institution in South Africa.
NCPG will prefer students with academic excellence and financial need.
The main objective of the bursary programme is to prepare unemployed young students for their job and career path. Those who want to launch their business/start-up/enterprise may receive support from NCPG as per their academic performance and progress.
The combined household income of the student will determine the sliding scale of the maximum bursary amount they may receive:

R0 – R350 000,00 per annum | R100 000, 00 |
R350 001,00 – R550 000,00 per annum | R80 000,00 |
R550 001,00 – R750 000,00 per annum | R60 000,00 |
Above R750 001,00 per annum | R50 000,00 |
The bursary will cover Tuition Fees, Books, Accommodation, and Registration allowances.
The NCPG bursary will cover the following fields of study that require critical and scarce skills and generally have hard-to-fill vacancies:
- Orthotics and Prosthetics
- Orthotics Assistants
- Health and Safety
- Digital Marketing
- Solar Installation
- Project Managers
- Bachelor’s Education, Science and Accounting and Intermediate Mathematics
- Bachelors Education, FET-Afrikaans, Xhosa and Setswana
- Health Sciences
- Natural and Agricultural Sciences
- Wind Turbine Technicians
- Solar Installation Technicians
- Landfill Gas Collection technicians
- Hydrogen Fuel technicians
- Hydrogen Fuel Transporters
- Electrical Diagrams/Schematics
- Engineering
- Tourism/Hospitality Management
- Environmental Quality Management
- Mining Minerals and Energy
- Hydrogen Production Engineers
- Hydrogen Vehicle Electricians
- Nature Conversion (Field Rangers)
The NCPG will shortlist students based on the following selection criteria:
- Fully completed application as per the Checklist
- Accepted or studying at an accredited Higher Education Institution
- Fields of study align well with the disciplines recognized as critical and scarce within Northern Cape
- Academic excellence
- Demographic spread (Age, Gender, Race and Disability)
- Financial need
- Geographic location (district)
- Continuing students – results statement
Eligibility Criteria
The applicants must fulfill the following eligibility criteria
- Age between 18 to 35 years
- Must be Northern Cape Province resident
- Current Grade 12 learners or those who have completed Matric and accepted at a registered Higher Education Institution
- Enrolled students at an accredited Higher Learning Institution who are doing very well academically.

Shortlisted students will have to enter into a contractual agreement with NCPG comprising all general provisions of the bursary.
Documents Required
Students must attach the below-given documents with the completed NCPG bursary application form:
- Certified copy of ID document
- Certified proof of Provisional/Final acceptance at a Higher Education Institution
- Certified copy of full academic results (Matric and HEI results)
- Proof of Registration at HEI (Higher Education Institution)
- Certified Proof of Income (both parents/guardians/spouse)
- Most recent 3-month bank statements (both parents/guardians/spouse)
- Pension slips and child grants should be proved by SASSA official documents
- If parents/guardians/spouse is unemployed, an affidavit or proof of such from the Department of Labour
- Certified copy of ID document of parents/guardians/spouse
- If self-employed, latest Tax Assessment and Financial Statement
- Letter from all registered banks stating accounts details/status of both parents/guardians
- Certified copy of marriage certificate
- Certified copy of death certificate of parents/guardians/spouse
- If parents are divorced, divorce decree (certified copy)
- If single parent, proof of such from affidavit or school principal
- The legally appointed guardian must attach related documents issued by magistrate/court confirming that they are taking care of the child
- If applicant is a fostered child or orphan, authentic legal documents required from Department of Justice, Social Development or SASSA and Constitutional Development
- Signed Application Form

Closing Date
The application deadline is 17 November 2023, Friday.
Successful candidates will receive correspondence before or on 26 January 2024.
