About University of the Western Cape (UWC)
Located in Bellville in the city of Cape Town, the University of the Western Cape is a public university established in 1960. It was constructed by the government as a university exclusively for people of the Coloured community. It is the only university from Africa that was elected as a member of the OpenCourseWare Consortium (OCWC).
After years of struggle with oppression, the University of Western Cape is now an inspiration with the diversity it hosts. There are seven faculties in the university with highly trained professionals, most of whom hold a doctorate. The university puts emphasis on research so it can help with the growth of the university and the community. It provides a platform for students to grow and gain knowledge from the best faculties.
