Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Forvis Mazars Bursary the same as the old Mazars Bursary?
- Yes. Forvis Mazars was formed in June 2024 from the merger of Mazars and US-based FORVIS. In South Africa the firm was previously known simply as Mazars, and this bursary was historically the 'Mazars Bursary'. It is now offered under the Forvis Mazars name.
- When does the Forvis Mazars Bursary close?
- There is no fixed public deadline on the firm's site, and the bursary category is often closed during the off-season. Historically the window opens around mid-year and closes in November (the prior cycle closed on 12 November). Monitor the official eRecruit portal for the open application window.
- Do I have to do my articles at Forvis Mazars?
- Yes. Bursars commit to a career with the firm and complete a three-year SAICA training contract with Forvis Mazars after qualifying, sitting the IAC/ITC and APC examinations during that period to become a CA(SA).
- Who is given preference for the bursary?
- All candidates are considered, but in line with the firm's transformation policy preference is given to Employment Equity (EE) students. Applicants must be South African citizens with a strong academic record and demonstrated financial need.
