Editorial Policy

How we research, verify and maintain the bursary, NSFAS, SASSA and university information on All Bursaries.

Last updated 15 May 2026

Our editorial standards

All Bursaries is an information directory for South African students. We aim to be the most accurate, current and complete free source of bursary information available, with a particular focus on YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) accuracy - because students rely on this information to make decisions about funding their education.

Where our information comes from

Every bursary entry on this site is researched from the funder's primary source first:

  • Corporate careers pages (e.g. anglo-american.com, mtn.com, sasol.com)
  • Government department portals (Department of Higher Education, National Treasury, SETAs)
  • University financial-aid office pages (e.g. uct.ac.za/financial-aid, wits.ac.za)
  • Bursary administrator platforms (StudyTrust, Fundi, NSFAS)

Where we cross-reference secondary sources (zabursaries, bursariesafrica, etc.), we treat them as leads - we don't publish anything that we can't trace back to a primary source.

How we verify

Before a bursary is published or updated, we check:

  • The funder's official application URL is live
  • The current cycle's deadline matches what the funder is advertising
  • The funding amount, work-back commitment and eligibility criteria are current
  • The contact details (email, phone, application portal) are correct

Each bursary entry has a "verified" date so you know exactly when we last checked. We aim to re-verify every entry at the start of each application cycle.

What we don't do

  • We are not a middleman. We do not process applications, accept money from students, or claim to influence funding decisions.
  • We don't take payment from funders for listings. Every bursary is included on its own merits.
  • We don't republish funder marketing copy. Bursary descriptions on this site are our own summaries based on the official information.

How we update

Bursary information changes constantly - deadlines, amounts, eligibility criteria. We:

  • Re-check the highest-traffic bursaries every 30 days
  • Re-verify every bursary at least once per application cycle
  • Update immediately when we're notified of a change by a reader or the funder
  • Mark closed cycles as "closed" rather than removing them, so future applicants can plan

Corrections

If you spot something out of date or wrong, please email us. We treat corrections as a priority - accuracy is the whole point of this site.
