SAMRO Foundation Music Bursary
The SAMRO Foundation Music Bursary is an annual tuition bursary for students majoring in Music towards a recognised diploma or degree at an accredited South African university. It supports continuing students from second year through to Masters level, and covers tuition fees only for the academic year in which it is granted. Eligibility Requirements
- ✓ Citizen of South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho or Eswatini (Swaziland)
- ✓ Registered full-time for a music degree or diploma at an accredited/recognised South African university
- ✓ Majoring in Music
- ✓ Must have completed first year - eligible from 2nd year onwards (2nd, 3rd, 4th year, Honours and Masters)
- ✓ Must provide proof of registration for the academic year
- ✓ Two reference letters from current lecturers (dated within the last 3 months)
- ✓ Masters applicants must additionally submit a thesis synopsis (approximately 5-8 pages) and a supervisor reference
- ✓ Not eligible: first-year students; doctoral/PhD students; students in foundation or bridging programmes; students at private higher education institutions (e.g. City Varsity, COPA, AFDA, Academy for Sound Engineering); and students specialising in Musical Theatre or Music Therapy
