Maize Trust Bursary Scheme

The Maize Trust Bursary Scheme funds postgraduate research that benefits the South African maize industry, supporting MSc (by dissertation) and PhD (doctoral research) students at recognised South African universities. The Maize Trust is a statutory levy-based body established in 1998 to advance maize-industry research and development, and the scheme is administered by Agri Manage Solutions in partnership with Grain SA. Funding covers two years for a Master's and three years for a Doctoral degree.

Eligibility Requirements

  • South African citizen
  • Enrolled or accepted for full-time study at a recognised/approved South African tertiary institution
  • Studying towards a Master's (MSc) by dissertation or Doctoral (PhD) research degree
  • Proposed dissertation/thesis research must be relevant to the South African maize industry and approved by the Trust before commencing
  • Not in receipt of any other bursary or study-related funding unless explicitly approved by the Trust
  • Must submit a completed application form with all required supporting documents
  • Recipient expected to work in the South African maize industry for the same period for which the bursary was awarded

Who can apply for the Maize Trust Bursary?
