South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) (administered in-house by the SAIEE Secretariat / Mrs Gerda Geyer)

The SAIEE Education and Bursary Fund supports South African undergraduates studying electrical, electronics or computer engineering at a university or university of technology. It covers tuition fees plus a set allowance for prescribed textbooks, and is administered directly by the SAIEE Secretariat. The fund is aimed at financially needy students with strong results in Mathematics, Physical Science and English.

Eligibility Requirements

  • South African citizen
  • Passed Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate with university entrance
  • Strong results in Mathematics, Physical Science and English/Afrikaans (approx. minimum 70% Maths and Physical Science and 65% English from matric, or around 60% average if already studying)
  • Currently studying or intending to study toward an undergraduate degree, diploma or certificate in electrical, electronics or computer engineering
  • Demonstrated financial need (proof of parent/guardian income required)
  • Handwritten motivation letter (failure to submit disqualifies the application)
  • Registered or intending to register full-time at a recognised South African university or university of technology

    Complete the form in full and write the required handwritten motivation letter (omitting it disqualifies your application)

    Gather your certified supporting documents, including proof of parent/guardian income certified by a Commissioner of Oaths

    Mail the completed application and documents to: The Secretary, SAIEE, P O Box 751253, Gardenview, 2047

    Submit so it is received by the 30 September closing date - applications received after this date are not considered

    Successful applicants are notified in writing by the end of January
